I’ve lived in Minooka 41 years, born, raised and
educated in Minooka
I ran for public office – For two main reasons.
First, I was fortunate to be able to grow up in a small
town that offered a safe, peaceful and friendly
community combined with a superior educational system. I
want to help guide Minooka’s growth so that we do not
lose sight of this concept. Second, community service is
important to me personally and what better way to
provide that service than to help guide Minooka’s future
growth while representing the people that make Minooka
such a good place to live.
The most important thing I do as a trustee is – I
work hard at representing the varied interests of the
residents of the community. In addition, I recognize
that it is a balancing act in weighing the needs of the
village against the impact upon the residents. Because I
am not a developer, do not own investment properties in
the community or work for any interests that negotiate
with the village, I am able to view our communities
needs, wants and desires from the viewpoint of a normal
resident and push hard for responsible decision making
and intelligent growth. My background in working for a
Fortune 500 Company has given me the ability to view the
Village as a corporation responsible for providing
services and protection to the residents while showing
fiscal responsibility. At the same time, we need to
remember that the people are a corporation’s greatest
asset and we need to treat the residents and village
employees with respect.
I would like to be remembered for being a good
husband, father and neighbor. In addition, I would like
to be remembered as a person who people could trust to
make intelligent and informed decisions concerning
Minooka and its residents.
The accomplishment I am most proud of is – My two
sons: Doyle and Derek. I could not have done any better
at any task or occupation than I did with having these
boys as my sons. I am very proud of them.
The thing I like best about Minooka is the people.
This town has very good people and if you take the time
to get to know them you will understand why so many
people have made Minooka their life long residence. It
is a friendly and pleasant town and a good place to
raise my children.
20 years from now America will be stronger than ever
before. Many people all over the world mistake our
fractious politics for weakness when it truly shows our
ability to have open and honest discourse. There are
people all over the world that look to America as the
place to live. This influx of new people provides
America with alternative thoughts and ideas and that is
what will continue to make our country great.
Charities that I am passionate about are United Way
and the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer
Society has proven their ability to make a difference by
assisting people to live longer, more productive lives
as well as in some cases beat cancer completely. United
Way helps people in our local community as well as
across our whole area.
I wish I had more time to Snow Ski. It is an
individual sport that can be done with your family or in
a group setting. There is nothing more awe inspiring or
beautiful than a mountain top vista right before the
first ski run in the morning.
A book/magazine/movie/TV show/CD I recommend is –
Book: Constitutional Chaos by Judge Andrew Napolitano –
Magazine: Popular Science – TV Show: Any Green Bay
Packer football game – CD: Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the
Moon
A place in the world that I have always wanted to
visit is – Australia, my desire is to visit Sydney,
Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne, the Outback with my wife
and family. Hopefully, I can also find time to dive the
Great Barrier Reef
