Construction Traffic

With the increased construction traffic upon our roadways please take additional time to travel due to expected road congestion. Be alert for falling gravel and rock that trucks carry as debris may fall off of the back of the trucks and cause damage to windshield and vehicle paint. If you notice a truck with falling debris or a vehicle that has left an abundance of mud upon our roadways please call the department so that we can attempt to rectify the driving hazards.

Home Security Check List

We all work hard and expect our home to be private and our belongings safe within our dwelling. Some people like to take shortcuts in life and steal our valued possessions and our memories that are attached to those belongings. Let us all take the time and make an effort stop the lazy and make them actually work for a living and not steal our lives work from us. Take a moment and walk around your house, check for overgrown landscaping that could hide a burglar or a peeping tom. Check your doors and windows, look for rotting wood and poor locking devices and always remember an unlocked door or window is an open invitation for crime. Lighting is another plus, light up your property, remember a bad guy never wants to be seen.  Motion lighting is very inexpensive and a great crime deterrent. Not too many people think about this next item but a home alarm system is a low cost proposition. If you compare your monthly Cable TV or Satellite TV costs to an alarm system an alarm is considerably cheaper and it can also reduce your homeowner’s insurance costs. Talk to your neighbors let them know how to get in contact with you when you are not home give them your cellular or work number. If your neighbors see anything that doesn’t look right like a work van in your drive they can call you and find out if everything is ok. Home inventory is another way to protect your possessions and if stolen it will help the police return the property back to you once recovered. A home inventory is also helpful when needed for insurance due to a claim for fire, theft or even a tornado. You can start with a video tape of all contents and in video speak out the estimated year of purchase, model number and serial number. Make another copy of this tape and store it off site like in a safety deposit box or family members house. These are just some minor steps that can protect you and your valuables. For further information about home or personal security please contact us.

Senior Services

The Seniors Voice is an organization that was formed in January and hosts a meeting at noon at the Village Hall Main Meeting Room the last Monday of each month. There are approximately 40-50 members that attend. If you are over 55 years of age and an area resident you are welcome to attend the meeting. Several topics are discussed each meeting and the guest speakers give presentations.
